Cold galvanized steel wire rope and hot-dip galvanized steel wire rope. Hot-dip galvanizing and cold-dip galvanizing have this essential difference in process.
Electro-galvanizing is to obtain the coating by electrodeposition through external power supply, and the obtained coating is composed of fine pure zinc crystal grains. Cold galvanizing (or electro-galvanizing) is zinc plated by electroplating or other methods at room temperature. Theoretically, electro-galvanized zinc can obtain a zinc layer of any thickness. At present, the amount of zinc on the practical electro-galvanizing can reach 1200g/m2. , Generally, the amount of zinc on the electro-galvanized layer can reach 750g/m2.
Hot-dip galvanizing relies on physical thermal diffusion to form a coating. First, an iron-zinc compound is formed, and then a pure zinc layer is formed on the surface of the iron-zinc compound. The highest value of zinc on hot-dip galvanizing is only 593g/m2. Hot-dip galvanizing will reduce the mechanical properties of the steel wire. Galvanized steel wire ropes that require high strength and high corrosion resistance are mostly twisted by electro-galvanized steel wires. Hot-dip galvanizing is zinc plated in a molten zinc bath at 450-480 degrees.
The essential difference between hot-dip galvanized steel wire rope and cold-dip galvanized steel wire rope is:
Compared with cold-dip galvanizing, the hot-dip galvanized zinc layer has better corrosion resistance due to the zinc-iron alloy layer. The surface condition of the hot-dip galvanized steel wire rope is blackened because of the hot-dip galvanized iron alloy. The electroplated surface has no chemical reaction, so it is still the original color of zinc, which looks brighter. Under normal circumstances, the zinc layer of hot-dip galvanizing is thicker, and the corrosion resistance is better. The zinc layer of electrogalvanized zinc is thinner and has poorer corrosion resistance. For example, the support steel wire in the water pipe is better electroplated, it looks good, and the cost is low; if it is a power tower, it should be hot-dip galvanized.
Because hot-dip galvanizing has good corrosion resistance, it can be used for 30 to 40 years. Although the zinc content on the surface is high, the hot-dip galvanized steel wire rope has a layer of zinc-iron alloy on the surface, and its anti-corrosion ability is much higher than that of the cold galvanized steel wire rope. At present, the market is generally electroplated steel wire ropes, because hot-dip galvanizing is expensive, and dealers have low profits from selling hot-dip galvanized steel, and they sell well. However, the anti-corrosion ability of electro-galvanized steel wire rope in the air is only a year or a half. But the anti-corrosion ability of hot-dip galvanized steel wire rope is long.
In terms of appearance, the appearance of cold-dip galvanized steel wire rope is brighter and better-looking, but the appearance of hot-dip galvanized steel wire rope is black. Therefore, all users must pay attention when purchasing galvanized steel wire rope. In fact, the anti-corrosion ability of cold galvanized steel wire rope is not as good as smooth oiling. In fact, if the price of smooth steel wire rope is 8700.00/ton as the basis, 1000.00 tons will be added for cold galvanizing, and 1000.00 tons will be added on this basis for hot-dip galvanizing. So I suggest that the manufacturer and the intermediary work together to make this hot-dip galvanized steel wire rope.
The physical index of galvanizing process The monofilament of galvanized steel wire rope is specified with the weight of the zinc layer. For the weight of the zinc layer, the physical properties of the galvanized steel wire with a diameter of 0.5~0.8mm are inspected
1. Total breaking force: refers to the breaking force of the whole rope, divided into three types: theoretical calculation of breaking force
2. Single wire tensile strength: generally refers to the nominal strength, which is one of the important foundations for determining the actual mechanical properties of the entire rope. The difference between the measured strength of the monofilament and the nominal strength is clearly stipulated in the national standards and is strictly controlled.
3. Twisting, repeated bending, winding or knotting of monofilament are all indicators of plasticity and toughness. It plays an important role in ensuring the mechanical properties of the whole rope, and there are regulations in general standards. The inspection items stipulated in national standards: strength, torsion, and repeated bending (knotting); while the Japanese standard stipulates: strength, torsion, and winding. The mechanical specifications of smooth steel wire rope and galvanized steel wire rope are also different.
Galvanized steel wire rope can be used in high-level construction, vehicle and ship bundling, towing, strapping and other fields, for shipping, offshore oil exploration, aircraft manipulation, marine fishing, trawling, fixed netting, rolling nets and other fisheries. In the past, the core of galvanized steel wire rope was usually made of sisal and jute, but because these materials tend to absorb acid, alkali, sea water and other corrosive substances during work, the inner steel wire was corroded and broken at an early stage.
Polypropylene has been used as the core. The twisting of galvanized steel wire rope is the same as that of ordinary round strand steel wire rope, but according to the working conditions of the steel wire rope, there are different requirements for the thickness of the zinc layer of the raw steel wire: the thickness of the galvanized steel wire rope with a diameter of 0.2~5.0mm can be divided into 3 Group: The amount of zinc on the thin coating group is 15~135g/m2, used for mild corrosion conditions; the amount of zinc on the medium coating group is 60~200g/m2, used for medium corrosion conditions; the zinc content on the thick zinc coating group is 75 ~260g/m2, used in severe corrosive conditions. In order to ensure the quality of the steel wire rope, the surface of the steel wire galvanized layer should be smooth, complete, uniform and firm. When the galvanized steel wire is spirally wound on a core rod with a diameter of 5 or 10 times the diameter of the steel wire, the zinc layer should not fall off or crack. Corresponding inspection should also be done for the corrosion resistance of the galvanized layer.
